Hogle Zoo celebrates Dari's 52nd birthday
SALT LAKE CITY - Utah's Hogle Zoo celebrated Dari's 52nd birthday on Saturday.
The elephant received a birthday cake made of protein pellets, fruits and veggies and mashed potatoes. She also got to break into her own pinata presents.
Dari came from the wild to the zoo in 1968.
"She's an old elephant in a zoo but she's still young at heart she's still got lots of energy," said Eric Peterson, the zoo's elephant keeper. As you can see, she still has lots, has lots of wanting to play, wanting to party."
Dari is the oldest African elephant living in North America.
