BLM Begins New Look At Oil Shale Plans

Salt Lake County seeks public input on the locations of 2 new community gardens

          Salt Lake County's Urban Farming division is pleased to announce the creation of two new community gardens in county owned parks. Public meetings will be held in various places throughout Salt Lake County to receive input on the possible locations for the gardens, and to answer questions about the application process to select the final sites.

Historic Salt Lake City market renovated to make way for Harmon's

With the new look, comes a new name, the Harmons Emigration Market.

This is new ground for Harmons as this is their first urban neighborhood grocery store.

 

"This is 1/7th the size of our normal stores and so we're cramming a lot into this but I think it's going to be something really special," said Bob Harmon.

"We've kinda been looking at this store back and forth for years and it just fell into place," said Randy Harmon.

The Emigration Market closed in April due to the economic downturn.

Green efforts at City Creek recognized

Green efforts at City Creek recognized

This is a news release from City Creek.

The City Creek redevelopment project in downtown Salt Lake City has been recognized as a pioneering example of sustainable design by achieving LEED® certifications from a green building ratings system established by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute.

The overall City Creek project was awarded LEED Stage 2, Silver certification, while Richards Court, a residential community in two 10-story buildings on South Temple, was awarded Gold certification. More certifications are expected as other buildings are completed.
